The raw material - Gray Iron
Due to its great sensitivity to the cooling rate, gray cast iron castings often appear white cracks and cracks in thin sections, and often lead to lysification in thick sections. Therefore, there is a critical value of section thickness of gray cast iron. If it exceeds this value, with the increase of wall thickness, its mechanical properties such as strength, vibration dissipation ability and elastic modulus will not increase, but significantly weaken. Due to its low thermal stability, gray cast iron cannot be used to manufacture parts that operate for long periods of time at temperatures above 250 degrees Celsius. Compared with cast steel material, the use of gray cast iron can obtain a thinner thickness, more complex geometry of the casting, and the residual internal stress and warping deformation in the casting are smaller. Due to its relatively uniform performance in various sections, gray cast iron is often used to manufacture castings with high requirements but not necessarily thick sections.
